Invent-a-party by Louis Corrigan
Restoration of our American democracy with a primary emphasis upon economic and social justice for our citizens - as demanded by the constitutions preamble - begins with reform of our political parties.
Political parties are democracys engines of social, political, scientific, commercial and ethical change. And whos' purpose is to affect a timeless refreshment of our laws; being, ever mindful our Constitutions' Preamble commands government in the peoples'/public interest, rather than its institutionsb & special interests. Obviously, the parties have forgotten that purpose and are grossly in need of reform.
I have been active in the NYS Independence Party since the late 1990’s and elected both county and state committeeman. I was elected as Erie County Secretary in 2002, an office specified by NYS election law, and have served continually to this date.Over that time I’ve witnessed extensive corruption of political party activities - one having the color of law (selecting, endorsing and authorizing non-party candidates and placement on voting machines) and the party activities of raising money and policy and platform deliberations. However, in fact, they’re practically inseparable. And, as money flows through the system, the worst offenders are the machine candidates themselves; believing, they have some right to rig endorsements in order to make a lifelong career of their elective office. And, of course, requires corrupt party county and state chairmen and officials.
Then, over time, government election officials, election law enforcement, judiciary, police investigators and the legal profession lose sight of the simple reading and meaning of election law protections to democracy’s freedom through the ballot box. Rather, they become protectors of voter fraud committed by the parties and their officials. An appropriate comparison is found in the Jim Crow laws of the south. The parties now ensure the average person is denied true representation in the candidates and issues brought to the ballot box. Just the changes governing the creation of candidate petitions over the past twenty some years is a clear warning of a growing economic tyranny. The increasing disregard of our human rights and economic protections enshrined in the constitution is still another clear warning.
As a county secretary, my job as been to keep party votes honest; and, to make and attest that formal party documents prescribed by election law are true and in compliance with election law.
